Worship…it’s one of the glorious privileges of those who have committed themselves to Jesus Christ. Worship is expressing our love and commitment to our God, recounting to God, ourselves and others the great things God has done. In its simplest form, worship is saying, “Good job, God!” and living in a way that reflects that appreciation.
At Ruggles, corporate worship—acknowledging God’s greatness together with others who love Him—is an important part of our meeting together. We worship together by singing songs that express our confidence in God and that proclaim His awesome character. We share scriptures with each other, hearing again the eternal truths that God has preserved for us in the Bible. We tell stories of how we have seen God at work personally in our lives. We are free to express our excitement about our God by raising our hands, or our reverence for God by kneeling at our seats. We seek to make room for individuals to express their worship to God as they see best, within Biblical guidelines.
But worship is not just something that happens at the beginning of a church service. Worship is me saying “Because I love You, God, I want to live each moment Your way, not my way.” Worship might be reflected by someone stopping to pray with you at the end of a service, or by someone making a choice to respond to a situation at work with honesty and integrity. We are seeking to lead lives of worship, for God is worthy of that. We invite you to join us in worshipping our great God!
