“Magnify the Lord with Me" (Psalm 34)

This Sunday we consider the scriptural theme from Fenway Kids Adventure Week, where David invites others to, "Magnify the Lord with me." Yet we'll see that the context of his call to worship is much more complicated--he's in hiding, running for his life. We'll see what we can learn from King David and his praise from a cave.

“Mystery, Mercy, Majesty" (Romans 11:25-36)

“What’s the plan?” We all like to know what’s going to happen, and we plan our careers, relationships, and our whole lives ahead as best we can. But what about things we can’t know? This Sunday's passage will show us the breadth of God’s mercy and the depth of his wisdom.

"A Remnant, Chosen by Grace" (Romans 11:1-10)

Most of us are surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues who do not believe in Christ. Many of us even know people who once seemed to believe in Jesus yet have fallen away. This Sunday's passage will remind us that even if so many people are rejecting Christ, God's grace is enough to preserve a remnant, chosen by his grace. Human rejection can never thwart God's plan.

"How Leadership Cultivates Compelling Community" (Acts 6:1-7)

We've seen that Christ's vision for the church is to be both wide and deep--diversity and unity. Yet this is easier said than done. What happens when the diversity of the church causes disunity? When unity is threatened, we'll see that God has given his church a gift to help: leaders.

"How Prayer Cultivates Compelling Community" (Acts 4:23-31)

Christ's vision for us, his body, is to be community that is uniquely diverse and unified--wide and deep. Most people like unity and diversity in theory, but it's much harder to work out in reality. We'll consider this Sunday one way Scripture teaches us to foster compelling community: praying together.

"What Makes Christian Community Compelling?" (Ephesians 2:11-22)

In our increasingly isolated world, the church is a unique place where community can flourish. But what makes church community different? We're beginning a series considering how the gospel transforms our relationships with one another. This Sunday, we'll see how God's word makes a Christian community that is both wide and deep.

Gospel Freedom (Galatians 5:1-15)

The gospel is something altogether different than either religion or irreligion. It is free and free-ing! The gospel is free: we don’t have to earn salvation by our works. But the gospel is also freeing: it frees us to love and serve one another. Or, as the Apostle Paul puts it, “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.” That’s what the gospel is all about: Faith expressed through love.
